A female student of the prestigious Presidency College today died while her roommate was struggling for life in a hospital due to suspected drug overdose, police said.
Sumantika Banerjee and her roommate Subarna Lama, a working woman, were found unconscious this morning in their room where they were staying as paying guests in Muchipara area in central part of the city.
Both the girls, who hailed from North Bengal, were taken to Calcutta Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Sumantika brought dead, they said.
Lama was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition, police said.
The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem.
