Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra today demanded constitution of a committee to probe the incidents of children allegedly disappearing in the city.

Expressing shock over the alleged theft of a child a seven-month child from Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital in West Delhi yesterday, he asked authorities to take stern action to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Malhotra accused Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of not paying any attention to such incidents and said "Delhi Police could not succeed in exposing the child-lifters gang active in the national capital."

Alleging that more than 3,000 children were disappearing from Delhi every year, Malhotra demanded the Lt Governor of Delhi to constitute a "powerful" inquiry committee to probe the incidents and "take stern action against all those who are involved in such act."

He said, "there could be a possibility of involvement of an international gang, who kidnap the children for their vital organs and push the young girls in flesh trade."

The BJP leader said, "some force these children into begging and also involve them in heinous crimes so that they could not be sent to jail under Juvenile Act.
