Protestors today burnt tyres on the streets here after a slaughtered animal was found near a religious place, forcing shops and banks to down their shutters.
As soon as the information spread about the recovery of the animal last night, people came out on the streets and staged protest by burning tyres, police said.
All shops and banks remained closed and the Capital Express from Danapur to Kamakhya was delayed at Kisanganj railway station for over three hours due to the agitation, they said.

Superintendent of Police Deepak Barnwal said that additional police force had been deployed in the town to maintain normalcy.
Principal Secretary (Home) Amir Subhani said at Patna that the state government was keeping a watch on the situation.
Elderly people of all communities met the district magistrate and urged him for the return of normalcy in the town.
