Punjab Government today constituted a state Council for the Welfare of Old Age Persons headed by the Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development.
The executive members of the Council comprises Secretary for Social Security, Principal Secretaries for Health and Family Welfare, Home and Justice, Information and Public Relations, Director General of Police, a member of legal remembrance and Secretary for Parliamentary affairs, an official spokesperson said.
Director of Social Security has been appointed as member Secretary, he said.

Six well known personalities working for the welfare of senior citizens and related activities have also been nominated into this Council constituted under the Welfare Rules 2012, he said, adding, they have two year term.
Three prominent persons in the field of social welfare nominated as members in the Council are retired IAS officer Satpal Karkara the President of Senior Citizen's Federation, Pritam Singh Dodh, President of Mohali Welfare Society and Ujjal Singh, President of Bhai Gahnniaya Ji Charitable Trust, Hoshiarpur.
Also three senior citizens Babu Lal Shoker, Tajinder Singh and Pritibha Sharma are also nominated as members of this council, he said.
