Chandigarh: The Punjab government has approved a project worth Rs 15 crore to turn Kartarpur (Jalandhar district) into a tourist destination under the 12th Five Year Plan, for the state's ongoing 'Sikh Circuit' tourism plans.
The project is formulated to widen the integrated infrastructure for religious tourism development and improve connectivity to the identified religious circuits, Sarwan Singh Phillaur, the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister said.

'Univserities should focus on research & development work'
Faridkot: Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil today asked the universities to focus on research and development work as well along with providing education.
Addressing the 16th Punjab Science Congress today at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College at Faridkot, he said, "Universities are expected to do research and development. But they are not coming upto the expectations."
Punjab Governor also talked about the role of science and technology in the development of the country. =============================

Partially burnt body found
Hoshiarpur: A partially burnt body of a youth was found adjoining a railway track at village Saila Khurd on Garhshankar-Jaijon track last evening.
A case was registered and the body has been sent for the postmortem, Sub Inspector Satish Kumar, Government Railway Police said.
