Punjab procures 4.74 LT paddy so far

As much as 4.74 lakh tonnes (LT) of paddy has so far been procured in Punjab by government agencies and private millers during the ongoing Kharif marketing season 2014-15.

Out of total purchase, government agencies bought 82 per cent of arrivals at 3.89 lakh tonnes, while rest was bought by private millers and traders, said an official spokesman.

Among government agencies, Pungrain procured 1.06 LT while Markfed, Punsup, PSWC and PAFC bought 1.01 LT, 84,373 tonnes, 32,564 tonne and 41,532 tonnes, respectively.

FCI has procured 23,174 tonne of crop in Punjab.

Punjab is eyeing to procure 140 LT of paddy in current season.
