Rain in parts of Himachal

Light to moderate showers lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh today leading to a sharp drop in the temperatures in the area, while sky was overcast in the state capital here and in some other parts of the state.

Kangra and Mandi districts were lashed by heavy rain.

Dharamsala received 60 mm of rain while Kangra had 15 mm rain followed by Manali 15 mm, Theog 5 mm, Nahan 3 mm, Una 2.6 mm, Khadrala 2 mm and Rohru and Shimla 1 mm.

The rain caused a sharp fall in maximum day temperatures in lower hills.

Una recorded a high of 32.8 deg C against 37.6 deg C yesterday while Nahan recorded a high of 25.8 deg C against 30.8 deg C yesterday.
 

Keylong was the coldest place during the night with minimum temperature at 9.5 deg C while Kalpa and Manali recorded a low of 11 deg C and 13.4 deg C, followed by Shimla 16.4, Dharamsala 17.2, Solan 18.5, Bharmaur 19, Una 20 and Palampur 20.5 deg C.

Bhuntar had maximum temperature at 33 deg C while Kangra recorded a high of 32.8 deg C, followed by Sundernagar 31.5, Dharamsala 28.9, Solan 26.5, Manali 25.6, Kalpa 23.2 and Shimla 21.4 deg C.

The local MeT office has predicted light to moderate rains at isolated places over the next 72 hours and moderate to heavy rains in mid hills on August 4.
