Rains lashed the national capital today with the minimum and maximum temperatures settling a notch below normal even as humidity levels shot up.

The Safdarjung observatory, the reading of which is considered the official figure for the city, recorded 14.1 mm rainfall between 8.30 AM and 5.30 PM.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 33.5 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average while the minimum temperature settled at 26 degrees, both a notch below normal for this time of the year.

The MeT office has predicted rains for tomorrow as well.

"The skies will be partly cloudy. Moderate rain is likely to occur in several parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 30 and 24 degrees," the official said.

The continuous downpour throughout the day led to water logging in several areas and triggered traffic snarls in various intersections and busy roundabouts in the city.

Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 30.8 and 26.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
