Raj govt forms state-level panel for coordination, monitoring of depts for water harvesting scheme

The Rajasthan government on Monday constituted a state-level committee for effective coordination and monitoring of departments under the Rajiv Gandhi Water Harvesting Scheme.
According to an official statement, district, block and village panchayat-level committees have also been formed for the implementation of the scheme.
The state-level panel has been set up under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary B D Gupta who has instructed officials to execute work in a time-bound manner and ensure compliance as per guidelines, it said.
The secretary of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department will be the member secretary of the state-level committee. The district collector concerned will be the chairman of the district-level committee, the statement said.
The objectives of the water harvesting scheme include creating awareness about water conservation, reviving the traditional drinking water/water sources through proper utilisation of resources.
