'Raksha Bandhan': Sisters tie rakhis to men in jail

In a humane gesture, the prison authorities across Gujarat allowed sisters of jail inmates to tie rakhis (sacred thread) on their wrists on the occasion of 'Raksha Bandhan'

Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) P C Thakur told PTI over phone, "Sisters were allowed to tie rakhis to their imprisoned brothers and a scores of women accompanied by their family members and relatives had turned up in jails across the state."

"We had issued special instructions to jail authorities in this regard," he added.

Meanwhile, 'Raksha Bandhan' was celebrated across the state with traditional fervour.
