Devotees including Kashmiri Pandits living in the Valley today thronged temples bedecked for Ram Navami and took out a rally as the festival was celebrated across Kashmir with fervour and gaiety.

Despite intermittent rains, the devotees including men, women and children visited the temples since morning and paid their obeisance besides taking part in 'havan' for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in strength at various temples as a precautionary measure, officials said.

Muslims greeted the Pandits on the occasion and even joined them in a rally taken out by a local priest from Habbakadal locality in downtown city.

The 'rath yatra', with a group of children wearing specially designed attire, passed off peacefully through various localities of the city including Lal Chowk before culminating at Hanuman Mandir at Hari Singh High Street.

A group of Kashmiri Pandits including women performed traditional folk dance at various places en route to Hanuman Mandir.
