National Commission for Scheduled Castes has asked Jharkhand police to register an FIR against Puri Shankaracharya for his alleged remarks on entry of dalits into temples.
"What Shankaracharya has said is condemnable. The commission has issued a notice to Jharkhand DGP asking to investigate and register an FIR against the seer and arrest him," NCSC vice chairman Raj Kumar Verka said here today.
The DGP has been asked to submit the action taken report to the commission with in 15 days, Verka said.
Yesterday, in Ranchi, Puri Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati has reportedly said that dalits should not enter temples.
