Police have booked the owner, manager and 10 other employees of a roadside resort-cum-eatery on charges of obstructing a public servant from discharging duty, manhandling and hurting him, wrongfully restraining/ confining him and attempting to bribe him forcibly.
Confirming this, Phagwara sub-division SP Gursevak Singh Brar said further investigations were on.
Based on a complaint of Excise and Taxation Inspector Navjot Bharti a case under various Sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against resort owner Satish Jain and others, sources said.

In his complaint, Bharti said he, along with his colleague inspector Bhupinder Singh, had gone to the resort on Saturday evening to check records regarding depositing of licence fee of liquor permits, luxury tax and VAT on food items.
"The accountant feigned ignorance to our queries and called owner Satish Jain, who bluntly refused to give any information and misbehaved and manhandled me," said Bharti.
"Then Jain and others held me captive, thrashed me and tried to bribe me," he alleged.
When Bharti, along with his colleague, ran towards the official car, Jain and others placed an envelope containing cash on the bonnet and recorded a video to frame them in false bribery case, according to the complaint.
No arrest has, however, been made so far.
Despite repeated attempts, the resort owner could not be contacted as his mobile phone was switched off.
