The construction site of the proposed rest house for Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims has been shifted from the ecologically sensitive floodplains of the Hindon river to Indirapuram, an official said.

Additional District Magistrate (executive) Gyanendra Singh said a 'Haj house' had also been built in the floodplains of the river which triggered controversy, with cases being filed by some activists in National Green Tribunal (NGT).

The rest house for Kailash Mansarover pilgrims was proposed adjacent to the Haj house. It will now be constructed near a shopping mall in Indirapuram.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to symbolically lay its foundation stone during his public rally at Ramlila ground in the city on August 31.
