RPSC Chairman Gauran resigns

Facing allegations of corruption and irregularities in competitive examinations, Chairman of Rajasthan Public Service Commission Habib Khan Gauran today resigned from his post.

Gauran submitted his resignation to the Governor Kalyan Singh after meeting him this evening, Alok Gupta, Principal Secretary of Department of Personnel (DOP) told PTI.

When asked about the reason of Gauran's resignation, the DOP Secretary said it was not be disclosed right away.

A Raj Bhawan official spokesman also confirmed the meeting of RPSC Chairman with the Governor this evening.

Rajasthan Police's Special Operation Group (SOG) and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have separately been probing the alleged cases of corruption and irregularities in examinations of Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) and Lower Division Clerk (LDC), conducted by by RPSC, officials said.
 

Gauran is alleged to be involved in leaking of papers of RAS and LDC which led to cancellation of examinations in the recent past, they said.

The matter figured in the state Assembly which witnessed pandemonium over the issue with the Opposition demanding his removal from the post.
