Haryana Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister Rao Narbir Singh today said that in the coming three years, Rs 188.84 crore would be spent on the replacement of 236 km low-tension wires and 180 km high-tension wires in Mewat district.
This was stated by Singh in reply to a question by MLA Zakir Hussain regarding replacement of 40-50 years old obsolete electricity wires in Mewat district during the ongoing Budget Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
Singh said that 20.5 km long wires have been replaced in the current year.

He appealed to the members to encourage people to pay their electricity bills as in Mewat district 54,839 electricity connections have been released for total 1,63,261 families. From this, it appears that the major reason of line losses is power theft.
Singh informed the House that in 2014-15, over Rs 100 crore was the loss in electricity bills in Mewat district.
The construction work of sub-station at Bibipur in Mewat district had been allocated on February 20, 2014. The power supply of this sub-station has been proposed from 220 KV sub-station at Roz-ka-Meo, he said.
