A village panchayat president here was today arrested on charges of failing to provide safety measures to an electrician who was electrocuted while replacing a fuse carrier in a lamp post, police said.
Police said a case was registered under IPC section 304-A (causing death by negligence) against M.Ottappatti Village Panchayat president A.Periyasamy and he was arrested. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
G.Pandurangan (50) died on the spot when he came in contact with a live wire while replacing the fuse carrier at Kumaramppatti near here, police said.
