S&P rating agency downgrades S.Africa to junk status

Credit rating agency Standard and Poors downgraded South Africa's credit rating to junk status today, S&P said, as the rand currency continued to slide following a controversial cabinet reshuffle.

"The executive changes initiated by President Zuma have put at risk fiscal and growth outcomes," S&P said in a statement emailed to AFP.
