Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Sami is a doubtful starter for his side's ICC World Twenty20 opener against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens, here tomorrow after injuring his toe during a practice session.

Sami, who was hit on the toe by a local bowler during their first practice session yesterday, failed to recover from the injury and missed Pakistan's warm-up match against defending champions Sri Lanka today.

"There's still no word on his fitness and we're not sure whether he would be available for the first match," Pakistan team's media manager told reporters.

He, however, said the injury was "minor" and team physio Dr Sohail Saleem said Sami did not require any scan or MRI.

"He's under ice pack treatment and expected to be fit soon," he said after their 15-run win over the Sri Lanka today.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga, recovering from a troubled left knee, would join the squad later tonight.

"He's (Malinga) flying in tonight and would be available for selection (for the opening match against Afghanistan on March 17)," Sri Lanka team manager said.
