Sand laden truck crushes farmer

One person was killed after he was hit by a truck in the Sajeti area of Ghatampur today.

Narender Prajapati (35) was on his way to his fields when he was hit by the truck laden with sand, coming from a nearby sand quarry, a police spokesperson said.

Agitated villagers started protesting on seeing the body and damaged a JCB machine in the quarry.

The irate mob was brought under control after a large contingent of police reached the spot.

An investigation into the incident has begun and a search is on to trace the driver of the truck, the spokesperson added.
