School and rural health awareness project launched

To commemorate World Hepatitis day, the city based Gem Hospital today launched a flagship health project for school students and rural population.

The project named "Aarogya" provides gastro, liver and cancer related information at the doorsteps of schools and villages for the benefit of children and rural people, Hospital Chairman, Dr C Palanivelu said.

A joint initiative of the hospital and Rotary Clubs of Metropolic, Centennial, Spectrum and West, the project envisages multiple tasks including health related talks, conducting free medical camps at schools and villages, screening for Gastro related ailments, detecting cancers at early stage and instituting proper treatment for the needy, he said.
 

B K Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman of Local Kendra of Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan inaugurated the project.

The Hospital is also conducting week long liver diseases related free screening and consultation along with free Hepatitis Vaccination campaign from today till August one, Palanivelu said.
