Pitching for higher allocation to R&D initiatives, apex PSU grouping SCOPE today said joining R&D institutions has not remained the first choice of talented graduates and there is an urgent need to step up efforts so as to make research more lucrative.
Speaking in the Defence Research Forum Conference 2014, SCOPE Director General U D Choubey emphasized that Research & Development requires more encouragement and larger fund allocation to attract best talents in the country.
He said it is being observed that joining R&D institutions has not remained the first choice of our talented graduates coming out of premier institutions like IITs, IIMs. Therefore, there is need for making R&D sector more lucrative.
Choubey further highlighted the achievements of some of the public sector enterprises like Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Bharat Electronics Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limted, various shipping organisations towards research in the area of defence production. He emphasised the need for seamless integrated relationship between industry and the academia for research and development.
