Select pulses drifted lower by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today owing to slackened demand from retailers amid ample stocks on improved supplies after the government's measures to check rising prices.
Marketmen said adequate stocks position on pick up in supplies following government's measures to check rising prices led to the decline in select pulses prices.
Meanwhile, worried about a further spike in prices of pulses in coming months, the Centre had asked state governments not to levy local taxes like VAT and mandi fees on dals, besides taking stern action against hoarders to boost supply and bring down rates.
In the national capital, gram declined by Rs 50 to Rs 5,850-6,350 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 6,150-6,450 and Rs 6,600-6,700 per quintal respectively.
Moong and its dal chilka local also weakened by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,650-7,350 and Rs 7,150-7,550 per quintal respectively. Its dal dhoya local and best quality traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 7,550-8,050 and Rs 8,050-8,250 per quintal respectively.
Masoor small and bold followed suit and shed Rs 50 each at Rs 5,900-6,150 and Rs 5,950-6,150 per quintal. Its dal local and best enquired lower by the same margin to Rs 6,450-6,950 and Rs 6,550-7,050 per quintal respectively.
Malka local and best too eased by Rs 50 each to Rs 7,050-7,350 and Rs 7,150-7,450 per quintal respectively.
