Press Trust of India New Delhi

An elderly shopkeeper died in a fire at his shop at Sarita Vihar in south east Delhi, police said today.

A call alerting about the fire was received around 4.25 AM by the Delhi fire services, officials said.

The fire fighters who responded to the call reported recovery of a charred body, identified as Rajesh Gupta,62, from the grocery shop, said a fire services official.

The cause of fire was not immediately known but a short circuit was suspected to have triggered it, said a police officer.
