Shops, houses of 2 chemists raided; sub-standard drugs found

Punjab Health Department teams today raided the shops and residential premises of two chemists, and seized several types of alleged sub-standard and objectionable drugs from their possession.
Acting on a tip-off, teams of health officials raided the business and residential premises of the two chemists, allegedly involved in unethical trade of suspected spurious and sub-standard quality of drugs, officials said.
Balaji Medical Hall at Hazi Rattan Chowk was raided from where 18 types of drugs labelled as 'Physician Samples Not for Sale' were seized, they said.

The team also searched the residential premises of the owner of Balaji Medical Hall and was found stocking and exhibiting huge quantity of 89 types of drugs of doubtful quality at hidden places, officials said.
The team seized 13 samples to assess the quality of the drugs, they said.
Another team raided the business and residential premises of Mohit Medicos in Aggarwal Colony here from where 13 types of objectionable drugs were seized, officials said.
The total approximate value of the seized drugs vary from Rs 7-8 lakhs, they said.
