Upset over her family shunning her because of her inter-caste love marriage, a 21-year old woman allegedly poisoned to death her one-and-half year old daughter before committing suicide at Thukiyampalayam in the district, police said today.
The woman's parents were angry after she married the man of her choice. Though she tried to patch-up by visiting them after marriage and after delivery, they stood their ground and told her to forget about them.
She was distressed over this and when her husband had gone to work yesterday, she administered poison to the baby and consumed it herself. Both died in the house, police said.
