SI killed in Oct 2012 chosen for President's Police medal

A young police Sub-Inspector, who was killed by an armed gang in October 2012, has been chosen for this year's President's Police Medal for Gallantry Act.

T Alwin Sudhan (26) was killed in October 2012 by an armed gang in Sivaganga district while on duty. He has been awarded the Gallantry medal, a press release from police headquarters here said.

Further, three IPS officers -- ADGPs Sanjay Arora and Sunil Kumar and IG (Headquarters) Mohammed Shakeel Akhtar have been awarded President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service, it said.

Twenty three other police personnel, including a woman Deputy Superintendent of Police and a woman SI have been awarded the President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service, it said.
