Silver prices fell by 0.59 per cent to Rs 36,819 per kg in futures trade today on weak cues from the global market amid strengthening dollar.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March next year was trading down by Rs 218, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 36,819 per kg in a business turnover of 1,616 lots.

In a similar fashion, the white metal for delivery in December declined by Rs 190, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 35,968 per kg in a business volume of nine lots.

Market analysts said a subdued trend in global markets as a strengthening dollar curbed demand for a store of value, led to the fall in silver prices in futures trade here.

In the international market, silver lost 0.70 per cent to USD 16.46 an ounce in Singapore.
