Sl Navy damages boat, fishing nets of Tamil fishermen

Sri Lankan navy today damaged a boat owned by a local fisherman after colliding with their ship besides damaging some fishing nets when they were fishing in the mid-sea off Dhanushkodi coast, according to Emirit, President of the Fishermen's Association.

He said the navalmen damaged fishing nets of more than 30 boats.

More than 3000 fishermen who were fishing in the Palk Strait since last evening had to return after the navy personnel chased them away, he said.
