In a veiled attack on the Narendra Modi government, senior VHP leader Pravin Togadia today said the situation has come to such a pass that both the soldiers and farmers are feeling distressed.

"The jawans are being beheaded along the borders while the farmers were not getting fair price for their produce," Togadia told reporters on the sidelines of a Jain community function here.

"Farmers are forced to sell chilli at Rs 1,500 per quintal as against Rs 12,000 it commanded earlier due to a drastic dip in the prices," he said.

"Similar is the case for other crops," he added.

"Time has come that the Army should feel safe and farmers should prosper. For this, efforts should be made," he said.

Referring to the recent incident of the killings of two Indian soldiers and mutilation of their bodies by the Pakistani forces, Togadia said, "Pakistan should be given a befitting reply, India should seek revenge of the death of two jawans by killing 50 Pakistani soldiers.
