Senior Congress leader Amarinder Singh today hailed party president Sonia Gandhi for her "aggressive pursuit" of farmers' cause which, he said, has "imbibed fresh life into the rank and file of the party across the country".
"The aggressive pursuit for farmers' cause by Sonia Gandhi has not only galvanised the entire Opposition against subversion of farmers' interests by the NDA government but also imbibed fresh life into the rank and file of the Congress," Amarinder said in a statement here.
He said that by taking up the cause of farmers on the issue of land acquisition, Sonia proved that she stood by what she preached and practised.

"Not only was she the architect of the farmer friendly Land Acquisition Act introduced by the UPA government, she has also insisted that she will not let its dilution at any cost even though her party was not in power," Amarinder said.
He added that the Congress was looking forward to Sonia's leadership as she alone carried the charisma in bringing the party back to power.
