Students of Aligarh Muslim
University held protests inside the campus and also indulged in arson and fired in air over suspension of three students for their role in violence.
University officials confirmed that yesterday evening, incidents of violence including several rounds of firing took place at different parts in the campus, including in front of the gate of the Vice Chancellor's office where a meeting of the University's Academic Council was in progress.
University Proctor, M Asif Khan told PTI,"This is the handiwork of miscreants who had used firearms on Saturday night in front of the Administrative Block.
