Stalked by youth, girl commits suicide

A 19-year-old degree student, who was reportedly being stalked by a youth, allegedly committed suicide in Nalgonda district of Telangana, police said today.

The girl consumed pesticide on January 2 and died while undergoing treatment at a hospital yesterday in Suryapet town of the district, DSP Suryapet (Sub-Division) Abdul Rashid told PTI over phone.

The relatives of the girl, in a complaint lodged with the police alleged that one T Srinivas was stalking her, which made her take the extreme step, the senior police officer said.

A case of abetment to suicide has been registered in this connection against Srinivas and a hunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused, the DSP said.
