Suspected militant held in JK's Kulgam district

A suspected militant who was planning to target security personnel and snatch their weapons has been arrested from Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said today.

Roshan Zameer Bhat, a resident of Nowpora was held based on an information that members of terror outfits --Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba--were planning to carry out attacks on security personnel to snatch their weapons, a police spokesman said.

On being interrogated, the accused disclosed that he had kept the illegally acquired explosive material at his residence, the police said.

A Chinese grenade was found from the house of the accused, they said.

A case has been registered and the investigation is going on, police added.
