Taiwan favoured more intense cultural and trade ties with India, a representative of Taipei's Economic and Cultural Centre in the country said here today.

On a visit to the city, Chung Kwang Tien praised Punjab's culture saying growing ties between the two societies would go a long way in fostering long-lasting relations between them.

Tien visited the Golden Temple, the Jallianwala Bagh and the Khalsa College here.

He witnessed Bhangra (traditional Punjab folk dance) at the Khalsa College performed by the students.

He met Khalsa College Principal Dr Daljit Singh and showed keen interest in educational tour programmes between India and Taiwan.

Tien said he had heard several agriculture success stories from Punjab and wanted Taiwan to learn from hard-working farmers of the state.
