At a time when BJP government plans to bring Bhagwad Gita in school textbooks in Haryana, a Minister today said the teachings of the holy scripture goes above his head.

Speaking at a seminar on 'Relevance of Gita in Indian Arts' at Kurukshetra University campus here, PWD Minister Narbir Singh said it was his "bad luck" that he was invited here in a seminar relating to Gita.

"The teachings of Gita go above my head," he said, taking the gathering by surprise.

Singh did not stop at this, and further posed questions on his visit to the land of 'Mahabharata' (Kurukshetra).

He said that he was being invited to visit Kurukshetra since he became a Minister.

"I used to ask why should I come to Kurukshetra? I am a Yadhuvanshi. Ten crore Yadhuvanshis were massacred here (referring to 'Mahabharata' times), so I used to ask why should I come here," he said.

The seminar was organised by the department of Fine Arts, Kurukshetra University and about 250 students and teachers from various universities participated.
