Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai today said the slow-moving government machinery was responsible for the delay in Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray's memorial proposed to be set up at Mayor's bungalow near Shivaji Park here.
"The memorial of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray will be developed at the place allocated for it. The government is positive regarding construction of the memorial. I have spoken to the Chief Minister," Desai said in a press conference.
However, replying to a query about the project's delay, Desai said, "You know it's a sarkari kaam!", referring to the red tape.

Proposal regarding construction of a memorial is yet to move, even though one and a half months have lapsed since the announcement was made by the Chief Minister.
Fadnavis, along with Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on November 18, 2015, had announced the plan of building the memorial at the Mayor's bungalow.
"We have constantly been taking updates from BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta. He is supposed to make a detailed proposal for the memorial. We hope that by next week, the proposal should get ready," Desai said.
