Thandie Newton to star in HBO's 'Westworld'

Actress Thandie Newton is the latest high-profile star to join the cast of HBO's 'Westworld'.

JJ Abrams is producing the television adaptation of the 1973 science fiction thriller film, which is being re-tooled by 'Person of Interest' creator Jonathan Nolan, reported Digital Spy.

'Westworld' explores the evolution of artificial intelligence through its story of a Western-themed amusement park populated by lifelike androids.

Newton has been cast in 'Westworld' as the world-weary madame Maeve Millay, whose life is forever changed by revelations about the true nature of the theme park.

The 41-year-old actress is currently starring in DirecTV's police drama series 'Rogue'.
