Thane rural police have arrested three men who were allegedly involved in a robbery in Bhayander area of the district.
Ajay Jana Gadag and Anil Ganu Gavit were arrested from a jungle in Talasari, while Mohamad Kurshan Boba was arrested from Dadara Nagar Haveli two days ago. Roopesh, the leader of the gang, was absconding alongwith two others.
Senior inspector of crime branch Kishore Khairnar said that they were suspected to be involved in the robbery at the house of Mahesh Machi in Sona Agar locality of Bhayander on September 27.
The robbers, who broke in through the roof of the house, had made away with a booty worth Rs 2 lakh.
Khairnar said that police learnt some days ago that Roopesh alias Rupji Madu Thakery, who had been recently released from the jail, was the leader of the robbers' gang and was hiding in Talasari jungle alongwith others.
While police could arrest Gadag and Gavit, Roopesh and two others escaped.
