Three asphyxiated while cleaning tank

Three persons died of asphyxiation while cleaning a tank containing chemicals and gold dusts at a goldsmith's workshop here early today, police said.

The owner of the workshop Ravishankar had asked Ezhumalai and Gourishankar to clean the tank.

As soon as the two entered the tank, they shouted for help as they were unable to breathe due to the foul smell emanating from it.

Suryakumar, a supervisor, rushed to the spot to rescue them. However, he fell unconscious due to the foul odour.

Both the workers died on the spot due to asphyxiation while Suryakumar, who was rushed to the government hospital, also died without responding to the treatment, police said. they said.
 

A case was registered under 304 A (causing death by negligence) against Ravishankar, who is absconding, police said

The relatives of the deceased demanded immediate action against Ravishankar.
