Three people were killed in different parts of Uttar Pradesh with a fall in the night temperature and dense fog which badly affected rail and air traffic.

One person was today killed and 12 others were injured in a car-jeep collision on Hardoi-Shahjanapur road because of poor visibility due to dense fog and one each died of cold in Lalitpur and Basti districts last night, police said.

Dense fog badly affected air traffic from the Chaudhary Charan Singh airport here leading to six flights being cancelled in the past 24 hours.

Airport officials said that two Air India flights, one Jet Airways flight to Abu Dhabi, another of Flydubai and two domestice flights were among those cancelled.

Delhi-Lucknow Swarn Shattabdi, Vaishali express, Kaifiyat, Avadh Asam , Shramjivi, Delhi-Faizabad, Padmavat and Gorakhdham express were running two to eight hours behind schedule, Railway officials said.

The dense fog and cold weather have thrown normal life out of gear and school timings in Lucknow and some other districts have been changed.

Met office here said that dense fog engulfed most places in eastern UP and isolated places over western UP.

Yesterday, night temperatures fell in Gorakhpur division, rose in Meerut, Allahabad divisions and changed little in the remaining divisions of the state.

Muzaffarnagar recorded the state's lowest minimum temperature at 7.0 degrees Celsius.
