Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, DMK chief M Karunanidhi and a host of other political leaders today extended greetings to the people on the eve of harvest festival Pongal and Makar Sankranthi.
"I convey my heartiest greetings and best wishes to people on the occasion of Pongal and Sankranthi," Rosaiah said.
"May the Harvest Festival strengthen our unity, promote harmony and spirit of eco-friendly culture," he said.

"Let us dedicate ourselves to go green, preserve and protect our environment" and contribute our mite to build a cleaner and healthier India, he said in a Raj Bhavan release.
Jayalalithaa, recalling the efforts taken by her government, said several initiatives that were taken for the welfare of the farming community, including the Chief Minister's Farmers' Social Security Scheme", has helped the state register record production in foodgrains.
"Let love and peace prevail among Tamils on the occasion," she said.
DMK chief Karunanidhi also greeted the people.
MDMK leader Vaiko, PMK founder S Ramadoss, CPI and CPI (M) extended their greetings on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Jayalalithaa greeted Rosaiah on the occasion of 'Pongal'.
"I convey my best wishes and greetings to you and to your wife and all your members of the family for a very Happy Pongal," she said in her message to Rosaiah, an official release said.
A floral bouquet and her message was presented to Rosaiah on her behalf.
In return, Rosaiah thanked Jayalalithaa for the wishes and extended his Pongal greetings to her, the release said.
