TN to honour noted journalist

To honour veteran journalist B Ramachandra Adityan, Tamil Nadu Government would soon issue an order announcing the change of name of Gandhi Nagar Fourth Main Road in Adayar as 'B Ramachandra Adithanar Salai', Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said today.

"B Ramachandra Adityan, carved a niche for himself in journalism, considered as one of the fourth pillar in the democracy. He also had a played vital role in reviving Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank", Jayalalithaa said in a statement.

Ramachandra Adityan was the Managing Editor of evening Tamil newspaper 'Malai Murasu'. He died in October 2013 at his residence in Adyar after a brief illness. He is the eldest son of the founder of largest circulated Tamil daily 'Daily Thanthi' Si Balasubramania Adityan.
 

Acceding to the request made by Ramachandra Adityan's son R Kannan, Director of 'Malai Murasu', Jayalalithaa said she had issued orders to Chennai Mayor 'Saidai' Duraiswamy, for the change of name and it was also passed as a resolution in the recently held Chennai Corporation Council meet.

"As part of honouring Adityan, Gandhi Nagar Fourth Main Road, Adyar, will be changed as B Ramachandra Adithanar Salai and suitable Government Orders will be issued soon. I will unveil the nameboard soon formally",she said.
