To enhance cooperation and synergy during joint operations, heads of Air force, Navy and Army's eastern commands have gathered in Assam's Tezpur for a Tri-Service Commanders'-in-Chief Conference.

The three day conference which will end tomorrow is being chaired by Air Marshal C Hari Kumar, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command.

The aim of the conference is to establish a high degree of co-ordination among the higher echelons of the three services, defence officials said.

The conference serves as a forum for the staff from the Tri-Commands to interact on professional issues and arrive at mutually agreeable solutions and synergy between the three services, they said.

The Commanders will also review the progress made on previously addressed issues with a view to facilitate high order of operational preparedness and enhance synergy in a critical response situation, especially in the context of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

Tri-Service Commander's-in-Chief Conference was envisaged to enhance jointmanship between the services and was institutionalised by the Chiefs of Staff Committee in 1997.
