Five security personnel of Meghalaya Governor Banwarilal Purohit were injured when their escort vehicle was hit by a pick-up truck in its bid to to evade an MVI checking at Mawiong here today, the police said.
The incident took place when the pilot vehicle, which was escorting the Governor's official vehicle, was coming from Guwahati to Shillong, East Khasi Hills District SP Davis NR Marak said.
The SP confirmed that no harm was done to the official vehicle carrying the Governor.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital.
The SP later said that the driver of the pick-up truck was arrested.
