A truck load of sagaun wood was seized and five persons, including a relative of an ex-MP, were arrested today, Forest and police officials said.
According to Forest Ranger of Barawah range, Rajesh Nigam a truck loaded with 68 logs of Sagaun wood was caught after a chase near Maharajganj crossing in the Sohwelha wildlife division.
A luxury car was allegedly piloting the truck, which was also stopped and officials found four persons sitting in the vehicle.

All the four persons in the car and the driver of the truck have been take into custody. Among them was, one Aakib Noman Jaheer a nephew of an ex-MP, the official said, adding the cost of wood is to be around Rs 10 lakh.
Nigam lodged an FIR in Maharajganj Tarai police station under Section 379, 411 of the IPC and 26 forest and Wild Life Protection Act.
