Turmeric prices were trading up by 0.93 per cent to Rs 6,318 per quintal in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions, triggered by uptick in domestic as well export demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April was trading higher by Rs 58, or 0.93 per cent, to Rs 6,318 per quintal with an open interest of 11,890 lots.
Similarly, the spice for May delivery increased by Rs 42, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 6,386 per quintal in 7,080 lots.
Analysts said, fresh positions created by traders following upsurge in domestic as well as export demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up turmeric prices at futures trade.
