Two children drowned in pond

A five-year-old girl and her 4-year-old friend drowned when they slipped into a pond at Dekachang in Kamrup (Rural) district today, police said.

Shahida Khatoon (5) and Mohibul Haque (4) fell into the pond while they were playing near the the water body, a police official said.

Both the boy and girl were neighbours, he said.
