: Two persons were killed and four others injured when their car hit a roadside tree while negotiating two vehicles near Pollachi in the district.
The occupants of the car from S Mettupalayam were carrying food to devotees who had gone to a nearby lake to immerse an idol of Lord Ganesha when the accident occured at Nanjegoundan Pudur, police said.
The car driver tried to overtake a three wheeler but failed to notice an oncoming bus, hit it sideways and then rammed the tree
While two persons died on the spot, two seriously injured were admitted to the Government Hospital here.
Two others are being treated at local hospital there, police added.
