Two youths were arrested and 13.5 kg gold was recovered from their possession in Assam's Nalbari district today, the police said.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team of Kamrup (Rural) district led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kanteswar Gogoi chased a vehicle, but was unable to intercept it within the district limits.
Police in the adjoining Nalbari district was informed and the vehicle was intercepted and the two youths along with the huge quantity of gold was taken into custody.
The youths, currently being interrogated at the Nalbari police station, hailed from Manipur and were coming from Dimapur with the gold, but their destination was yet to be ascertained, Gogoi added.
